Meet Our Team
Grace Stables Korea can only exist with people like you behind the scenes. Here are some team members!
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER AND GENERAL OVERSEER:
SARAH J. SHECHNER
Sarah Shechner grew up loving horses. Throughout her childhood and teens, she enjoyed horse riding, pony camps, and county horse shows.
While in university, her horse interests expanded, and even sparked into a new type of therapy: equine therapy.
However, it wasn’t until Sarah herself was left with a permanent disability in South Korea, that this spark became a passion.
In 2013, Sarah started a small horse therapy outreach at a quaint private horse farm that she was managing outside of Seoul. She offered rides, games, and horsemanship classes to groups of orphans and North Korean refugees.
These equine enrichment events grew quickly and Sarah was asked to provide all different types of horse therapy activities for both emotional and physical disabilities.
Today, the charity has blossomed into a dedicated team of volunteers and therapy horses. It also serves as a network for foreigners, USA military, and South Koreans to come together for a joyful and important purpose.
Grace Stables dedicates their main focus on social welfare, but they also offer lessons, culture exchange, and horse rehabilitation as well. Sarah has dedicated much of her time, love and money to a cause she holds dear to her heart.
